Concerts › The Morton Trio (Previous 2019 Season)

Viola, Piano & French Horn

To fulfill their long-held dream of sharing the intimate stage of chamber music together, Arna and Alex Morton have collaborated with outstanding pianist, and fellow Kiwi, Liam Wooding to establish Melbourne's premier horn trio.

While the canonic classics of Brahms and Ligeti continue to be crowd favourites, The Morton Trio is committed to discovering and performing lesser known works from the genre and have plans to further expand the horn trio repertoire through new-work commissions and their own arrangements. The Morton Trio adds even more flexibility to their programming by selecting duos for either violin or horn with piano, and hopes to collaborate with other established ensembles and artists to explore more of the chamber music repertoire. The Morton Trio is looking forward to touring with Chamber Music New Zealand in 2019 as part of their Encompass Regional Series and have recently been awarded the 2018 Pettman/ROSL ARTS Chamber Ensemble Music Scholarship.

The Morton Trio performed at St George & St John Church, on Tuesday 13th August at 7:30pm.
